Part 3: The relationship between Lois and Chloe: What went wrong with Chlo-Lo?

Lois and Chloe’s relationship was unique to Smallville in the sense that it was the first female-friends/family bond on the show that was free from any triangle or trust-issues drama. It was the only relationship on the show between two women that was neither dependent on nor motivated by their feelings for a man and it promised to bring a refreshing shift from the perennial angst that had settled in as a permanent flavor of the show by the end of its third season. The relationship did efficaciously deliver on its promises in the fourth and fifth seasons, before it started to spiral downwards, a descent from which it never recovered.

I am sorry but I refuse to accept the moth-eaten “Chloe was doing it to protect Clark” acquittal that is often presented for her behavior... )

Part 2: Chloe and Clark: Was she ever a true friend to him?

Smallville despite of all its imperfections will always hold a very special place in my heart, for it might prove to be the last ever live action incarnation of Superman where Clark Kent was still the man and Superman a mere mask, where Clark Kent had grown up believing in the strong morals and principles taught to him by Martha and Jonathan, and above all, where Clark wasn’t a lonely and miserable figure but was still defined by his relationships and his need to love and be loved. For this reason alone, I am ready to forgive a lot of poor writing choices that this show made over the years.

There are, however, some things about this show that will always make me strongly wish that they should have been handled differently )

I’ve wanted to do this for quite some time but after some recent exchanges on Tumblr, I’ve finally decided to go ahead and do it – compile my thoughts on the character of Chloe Sullivan in a series of essays. So here’s the first installment:

Part 1: Chloe Sullivan: Why is it so hard to like this character?

First off, let me start by saying that I think it was very creative of Al Miles to come up with the idea of Chloe Sullivan... )

Harry Potter.... Here I come

So…. after almost a decade and a half I’ve finally caved and joined in on the universal fever. Yes, I have picked the Harry Potter series for the first time in my life.

When the first book came out, I thought it was a ‘children’s book’ (even though I myself was in late teens at that time) and didn’t take much interest in it. I however did see the first movie and I enjoyed it a lot. Still for some reason I couldn’t bring myself to picking up the books, nor did I watch the rest of the movies.

But Harry Potter is no longer just another book or a movie series... )

A/N: I wrote this for a Smallville Clois smut-fic challenge at theclexfactor’s LJ.

He had saved her, but if he had run late, only by a millisecond… he shuddered at the thought.

A shiver ran down her spine as she looked at his face. The green ocean of his eyes had turned into a dark emerald and there was nothing in there but extreme anger. Normally, she would dismiss it, shrug it and walk off, but this time it was different.

He suddenly pushed her against one of the huge chemical containers at the old factory and closed the distance between them. She was trapped between the cold iron wall and the warmth radiating from his huge form.

He came back to the present when he entered his mom's bedroom that had been untouched since her demise. He could still hear her sobs in that empty room. He sat down on the floor next to her bed. He closed his eyes and countless voices started to reach his ears. Beneath the mind numbing silence of this castle, the world out there was full of happiness tonight.
